I just finished recording my Radio Show with Matt "Setback" Taylor. We do it everyweek but with one thing and another it's been about three weeks since I recorded one. We had this Bike Guy on who is doing stuff for the Bristol Cycle Festival. BristolCycleFestival.com

It was an ok show. Sometimes I make jokes that don't work. Sometimes I say things that leave the guests slightly uncomfortable.  You can feel it spreading out from them in the studio like a magnetic field. Like a mysterious force that tenses up everybody else's muscles. everybody within radius.

Today they discovered the Higgs. I wonder if I am the only one who will get the connection between the two. This is conceited of me.

Sometimes it's just a case of get your head down and get on with the work. but the problem with having your head down is it's hard to tell where you are going. I for example. perhaps for the last ten years have been digging a hole. a deep dark pit that gets deeper and darker the harder I dig.

I like to imagine that it is infact a tunnel. That I will emerge from the other side. Triumphant. Like one of those 17 year beetles.

It seems unlikely.

Good work requires good preparation. good gardeners tend the soil. Novelists do research. even TV serial Killers and Terrorists tend to put in the ground work. This seems like a tremendous act of faith on their part. How many of the worlds greatest, in any field have been hit by cars, lightning or law suits before they managed to come to the fore.

Most people who fail to run marathons get injured in the training. That's a lie. Most people that fail to run marathons run for two weeks or so before life gets in the way.

Life is full of marathons. Everyday is a first step to somewhere. Everyday my imagination takes me down avenues of possibilities. I could learn Spanish and travel to south America. I could learn to Knit. These are things that I will never do.

Wimbledon and my birthday come at around the same time every year. I am older that roger. Much Much older than Rafa. Certainly older than Andy.

this Blog was once called Pushing 30. I was pushing then. I've done pretty well. My life has had an upgrade. This I keep having to remind myself everytime a friend of mine self publishes a novel.
